I bought the 1250 in Dec 2019. I’ve never had a problem with smoke in the house when lighting. I had an outside air installed when they put in stove. It takes a bit to heat up but this stove easily heats my 1500 sf home. I burnt 1 cord or so in 4 months. Struggles a bit when temps near 0 and have to run damper wide open to keep up. Wood must be cut fairly short but it’s pretty efficient. ...Overall Performance:

I put this stove in a new 1150 square foot house with full basement and attached garage in fall 2019. 6 inches wetblown cellulose in walls and 20 inches dry blown in attic. Lots of double glazed glass windows on main level (10, 4’x5’ sliding windows) Basement walls (one half wall exposed) with 6 inch bats and 4, 3’x 4’ sliding windows. One wall between house and garage is 6 ...Overall Performance:

I have been heating my 800 + sq ft home for the last 5 years with Lopi Republic 1250. I see others have had a problem with smoke when first lighting the stove. I was told by the dealer from which I purchased the stove to warm the chimney and crack open a window before doing so to create a draft. I loosely crumble a piece of newspaper put it into the chimney and light it. I then light my fire. I ...Overall Performance:

In the six years I have used the stove the door hinge pins had to be replaced along with the door seal. When starting it is often hard to get a draw without smoke entering the room. I have had several wood stoves and this one is below average.Overall Performance:

This Lopi Republic 1250 stove will heat our 1150 sf house but does take a while. The fire box is small so the wood needs to be small pieces. If the fire is started properly, per instructions, we don't get smoke into the room. However, when re-loading, I have to open a window or door to increase the air pressure in the house relative to the firebox air pressure. Most of the time this measure will ...Overall Performance:

I am so happy with this Lopi Republic 1250. It is very easy to use, user friendly, economical and most importantly it works. It can heat up the room immediately with just using few woods. I can use it without winching because with just minimal work on the stove, it would work immediately. It can save a lot of time and effort.Overall Performance:

I have only had this stove a few months. First thing i want to say is this little stove will absolutely do an 8 hour burn. And that is without going out of the way to stack the box full. I have gotten burn times of 12 hours with this stove with the firebox only being 50% full and the damper turned down low. A bed of coals and a single 6" doug fir limb as a stoker. If I start with a cold stove ...Overall Performance:

have had our stove for 3 years now ,only source of heat on PNW coast. heats 1145 sf o.k.. once you get the hang of the new stoves lighting is a breeze and burning is too.it will over heat the house if i burn too long. i run it for 24 hours then off 24 usually in winter months ,we keep house cooler than most 63 or so is ok,i dont light it off unless it sits at 60 for awhile.Overall Performance:

Bought a Lopi 1250 2008 model last Spring used for around $200.00 and am a happy camper.I have had a liberty about 15 years ago which was a lot bigger for a bigger house so was partial to the Lopi brand. This stove although much less exotic fits the bill for this 800 sq. ft house and does nicely. The double wall piping, thimble and custom hearth materials were where the expenses were ...Overall Performance:

I purchased this stove in 2011 for use in my small 240 sq ft cabin. the cabin has nine foot walls with a 100 square foot loft. the peak of the roof is nearly 14 feet high so there is plenty of cubic feet to heat. This stove does the job just fine in my northern Minnesota location. the stove is positioned in the corner with minimum recommended clearance and has the outside air option ...Overall Performance:

I fired up my Lopi Republic 1250 for the first time last week. All the smoke went up the chimney; none came into the living room of our cabin. No need for a bypass system. It takes a while for the stove to warm up but once it does, it really pumps out the heat. It works well to get the wood load burn vigorously for a while and then fully dampen the air intake. After dampening, the stove temp ...Overall Performance:

We recently bought a Lopi Republic 1250 free standing wood stove. Once it gets going, it is a nice little stove. However, we have not found a dependable way to light it without filling up the room with smoke. I believe this is because, unlike more expensive models, it lacks a damper that bypasses the heat recovery system during lighting. The smoke has to travel toward the front of the stove, ...
