I reviewed this stove in 2013 and said this: "I love this stove. We have had it for about five years and it is our primary source of heat in our 850 sq ft house in Victoria, BC Canada. Lights easily, draws well and stays clean. Our damper is always wide open--I think that helps to avoid creosote buildup and keeps the glass clean. We only close the damper after the fire is out. " It is now 2019 ...Overall Performance:

Heater 'professionally' installed in May 2018 in Perth Western Australia This is a terrible heater, our biggest regret is not researching this more intensely. It emits constant smoke, which our supplier assures us it's just the paint curing (we are now in week 4 of constant heavy use and i can tell you, it aint no paint curing smell!) It is smoke, coming out of the flue vent and makes the heater ...Overall Performance:

I would not recommend this stove to a seasoned pro or a novice beginner woodstove person. The stove does not draft properly due to insufficient make up air. There is no way to manage inbound air draft, hence using the door is the only option when starting a fire and bringing it to full burn. The stove has very poor design flaw that i wish i had payed attention to other negative reviewers, ...Overall Performance:

This stove is amazing! It is much easier to keep the glass clean than my Vermont Castings model which I used to love, it burns incredibly efficiently, is so controllable, and most amazing to me is that with a few hot coals it will burn one log at a time. I have about 15 feet of total pipe and it drafts perfectly even in calm winds.Overall Performance:

Have nothing against this stove. The money I invested in this was worth is. It is user friendly, with quality, and most of all the it is absolutely effective. There’s no day that I could remember that it fail me. It continues to serve me, amaze me and please me in so many ways. I am so thankful with this stove and I will recommend this to all my friends who are looking for stove for their own ...Overall Performance:

Now in my second season with the Jøtul F100 and having burned over a cord of wood, I can say with confidence that this is an excellent wood stove. Fires are easy to light, easy to run, nicely efficient, and beautiful to watch. If you are thinking about installing a modern wood stove such as this one, ensure that you provide it with a good draft. I insisted on an insulated flue liner to be ...Overall Performance:

I am new to wood burning stoves. I have a small "shack" in southwestern Virginia. Just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. There was a learning curve and adjustments initially. Since then all has gone well. Plenty of heat for a 500 s.f. shack. I run hot, therefore I don't need a lot. Easy to start as well. Traditional size of wood is a tuff fit. I clear out ash every other day. This stove will ...Overall Performance:

This fall (2015) I installed a new F100. I had read some unfavorable reviews on other sites that had me wondering if I made the right choice. After a few months use I can say that this little stove is terrific performer. I have what is probably an ideal install with d. wall smoke pipe from the top of the stove straight up to the flue +/- 26' total with no bends. I have yet to spill even the ...Overall Performance:

We have nothing but praise for this stove. It is our primary heat source for our 900 sq ft house in southern BC, Canada. Some times we put an electric radiator in the bathroom at other times the stove is our only heat source. Usually we only light it in the evenings when we get back ftom work but on the coldest days we also light it in the mornings. It takes about 10 minutes to light to a full ...Overall Performance:

Moved in to a home with this stove and had many problems with draft and smoke in the house. We thought it was our wood or other issue. Found out that there was an obstruction in the chimney and now it works like a champ.Overall Performance:

Here are some tips on getting a fire going in the F100: To start a fire, make sure the damper is fully open. Roll and crush a single page of newspaper -- twist in the middle so it's the full width of the firebox. Add a couple sticks of thin kindling and a couple pieces of thicker, then a couple pieces of larger -- a graduated pile. We also use little fire starters such as pinecones dipped in a ...Overall Performance:

We love this little stove. It replaced a gas insert last fall, so was set out from the wall by a 20" horizontal stovepipe because of the existing wooden mantel -- we were afraid it might affect the draw but there was no problem. Our house is a 1700 sf rambler, and the stove is in the living room and basically heats that room, living room and family room -- keeping the bedrooms in the back ...Overall Performance:

We too are having big probs with this stove. Just installed about 6 weeks ago from our local dealer and let's just say our family has breathed in so much smoke it's starting to make me worry. It's near impossible to get a fire going (wont catch/no draw), and if the stove is slightly cold in the morning forget about it. The place will be filled with smoke because it won't draw and we have to ...Overall Performance:

We've had our little Jotul F100 going for about 3 weeks now. We have a 2000 sq. ft. split level in S. NH. We installed the stove in the living room, (center of the open concept living room, kitchen, dinning room), and facing down the hallway to 3 bedrooms. We also simultaneously had our house fully insulated and sealed, (in our State, check out NHSaves.com. . .well worth it!). Prior to the ...Overall Performance:

The Jotul F100 is our primary source of heat for the full year in North Idaho for the last 6 years. I can't say enough about this little stove. It takes awhile to get used to its characteristics as it is not at all like some of the big steel plate stoves we have had in the past. It starts quickly, burns cleanly, and we usually damper it all the way down every night and run the damper only about ...Overall Performance:

Great stove so far, I installed it in an existing 250 year old unlined fireplace that had issues. It was professionally done, smooth walled flex pipe with a baffle at the lintel then filled with vermiculite, we used the top connector and put it all the way inside the fireplace. Our house has small rooms so the heat won't travel well although it heats the second floor. This is its first year but ...Overall Performance:

This little gem of a stove cannot be beat for ease of use, burn efficiency, and economy. Every convenience imposes some compromise. With wood-burning stoves, it's ash-dust, a bit of smoke now and again, and getting the right size wood to feed the stove. That's true of all stoves, but this Jotul F 100 QT performs so well that the inconveniences are very tolerable. Opening the door slowly will ...Overall Performance:

I am EXTREMELY UNHAPPY with my new F100 wood stove. I bought it without reading reviews because I had heard nothing but good things about this company-and now I wish I had bought ANYTHING other than this stove. I have heated with wood for 30 years and I have NEVER encountered a stove that is so temperamental. It does not draw worth a d**n. This makes it unbelievably difficult to get a good fire ...
