Had this stove new since 2001. I have changed the catalytic converter every 3 years on average. If I get well dried wood the converter lasts longer. Sometimes the wool isn't seasoned enough. That is due to the wood cutter. I have changed the gaskets. I take the top off each year clean or replace the converter and gaskets if necessary. I have a 1400 sq. foot house and have no issue getting the ...Overall Performance:

Very pleased. It came with the house. The roof had a bad leak while it was on the market for 3 years. The stove had significant rust and I removed a lot of metal due to scaling. With that said I used it all winter for primary heat. And I got it HOT many nights. I'm completely satisfied. I expect it to last for years to come regardless of the severe water damage.Overall Performance:

it appears that alot of you do not know how to operate a woodstove? This stove works fantastic and alot of the negative reviews appear to be lack of experience and/or common sense. If the stove is warping that is a serious problem- not with the stove, with you. You should not be burning anything. You should stick with a furnace or a padded room that you can bounce around in to stay warmOverall Performance:

I bought a used, pre-China model 2460 several months ago for $350. I replaced the inner web underneath the damper ($21), the back plate in the stove ($46), and worn stove rope in door and under the top ($20). I got it up and running yesterday, 2-15-15, just before the ice storm hit. So far it is great! The catalyst is running 1100 degrees with the damper shut and hard maple in the firebox. ...Overall Performance:

Within 5 years of purchasing my Dutchwest stove it was literally falling apart. I talked to a man at the manufacturing plant in Vermont who admitted that some of the cast iron in the stoves has been faulty. They got it from Asia and its inferior quality. The man at my local stove store also mentioned that many others had had problems with this brand falling apart like mine. Please don't waste ...Overall Performance:

I have had this stove for 12 years and have not used it for the last five because of smoke in the house. The back of the stove fire area is cracked and disintegrated, doors are warped and gaskets always fell off. I thought of refurbishing, but that will only be spending good $ after bad. Also, don't expect to be able to talk to any Dutchwest representative.Overall Performance:

I find that the Primary air is difficult to control and usually have to get the stove up to temperature by opening the ash drawer door. Ash also collects at the stove pipe access in the back of the stove. I installed a thermometer on the flue pipe to better keep track of the flue temperature. While the stove says use 18" wood. I find that it is much easier to use 17" lengths. I bought the ...Overall Performance:

We have used this stove for 15 years now and love it. We have not had any of the cracking issues others seem to run into. I have had to replace the loading door rope gaskets on occasion and I remove the top every year to start the season with a clean stove and lower stove pipe section. I run a brush down the Metalbestos chimney and vacuum out the top chamber with the top removed. For whatever we ...Overall Performance:

Had this stove about 5 years as our main source of heat. Wish we had our 20+ year old Russo back! Extremely poor quality construction-falling apart; poor draft structure; doors don't stay sealed (replace side door seal several times per year); DIRTY stove-house has to be dusted every day due to back puffing & dust which comes out the front of stove when blower is turned on. So warped it now it ...Overall Performance:

We just installed this stove in our 1,200 sq. ft home this fall. I don't typically write reviews on anything, but we've used the wood stove several times and are so pleased with it so far! We have had two other wood stoves in the past---one homemade that heated very well, but burned a ton of wood in no time and an Englander that was an insert, so much heat seemed to escape up the chimney. This ...Overall Performance:

We've used this stove for at least a decade of winters so far. It's a bit undersized for our 1800 square foot Nebraska house, but it is reliable heat. We have changed the catalyst once and the gasket around the main side door once. We have the chimney cleaned once per year. During the coldest part of the winter we usually do two burns per day, and the temperature at the catalyst can get to ...Overall Performance:

Live in upstate NY. Burn about 7 - 8 face cords of well seasoned mostly white ash per season that I cut and split. Stove performs fine. Side loading door is a plus. Inner top cracked after about 7 years of use so that cat combuster ineffective. Found a replacement locally and had a wood stove "expert" replace the inner top ass'y. I will do it myself if it happens again. Not a difficult task. ...Overall Performance:

I bought this stove used 4 years ago and have heated 3 winters with it. I have an old 3000 sq/ft colonial - not including the unfinished basement. I can keep the first floor of the house ~70 degrees on the coldest days and the upstairs is just fine as we sleep under down comforters. Anyone having backpuffing problems has insuffient draft. With my 24' masonry chimney lined with a stainless liner, ...Overall Performance:

I definately do not recommend this stove to anybody. Cleaning it is a big job. Backpuffing and smoke puffing out the front is a problem. Having to open it all the way up every time you put wood in is dangerous oterwise it will smoke out your house. We have had two house fires with this stove so Iam wondering if there is a recall on this model? This is the first stove we have had with a catalytic ...Overall Performance:

Although this stove did a great job heating efficiently as our primary heat source, our inner top cracked and warped as well after only 1-season of heating. Company did not return any of my calls or correspondence and did not honor warranty after pursuing for nearly 2-years. We now own a 3-year old stove that isn't even safe enough to light a fire in. We're currently stove shopping and will ...Overall Performance:

Well First off I live in the Yukon and if anybody knows where that is. It's bloody cold here!! I bought this stove a year ago and I honestly have mixed emotions about it. It is very good looking but it is also very high maintence Normally with a wood stove you can stoke the fire at the end of the night and you should wake up with a warm house . Well to make a long story short , Thats not the case ...Overall Performance:

Stove came with the house. It has been very good. Heats 2000 sq. ft. home a-ok. Burns 24-7 in Wasilla, Alaska. Has a crack on the end panel but it is not causing a problem yet. Hope to find a part when the time comes. I draw hot air of it and into my force air system.Overall Performance:

I like the stove, it heats very well and is quite easy to use. However, the inner top is cracked and severly warped so bad that the catalytic combuster is essentially useless. In 5 weeks, have contacted three local area Dutchwest dealers to try and get a replacement inner top assy. They do not return phone calls and have been of no help. Very disappointed.Overall Performance:

I bought one by mail order in 1984, to heat a 1400 sq. ft. house in Nev. It is difficult to load the stove to capacity. The construction is not great, lots of cast iron pieces, made in china or someplace. If any of the parts warp, the seal is compromised, and the stove is no longer air tight. There are too many doors to seal correctly. It is a decorative stove, but if you are wanting a serious ...Overall Performance:
