Review: Vogelzang Deluxe Boxwood BX42E
Vogelzang Deluxe Boxwood BX42E
I LOVE these stoves! I had an old farmhouse with two stove chimneys and a fireplace. The small stove in the 10x20 foot kitchen could raise the room temp from 50F to 80F in two hours.
We modified the living room fireplace to take another small stove That room was 16x36 and the stove kept my parrots toasty for 17 winters.
After Hurricane Katrina, I could no longer afford oil, so I ditched the useless oil furnace that ran the forced hot air system (which did nothing). It was not easy to find the giant BX42E, but I finally found one and plugged it into the basement chimney.
It was wonderful! I could cram it full of wood at night, and the next night there would still be plenty of hot coals ready to burn.
These stoves are awesome - to fit a huge piece of wood in, you can just pull off the top.
Seventeen years and not a single problem - no stove fires, no chimney fires. They were especially great for the constant (rural) power outages - one lasting for nine days.
I now live in a house with steam radiators and an oil furnace, and I miss my stoves so much. Six cords of hardwood at a max price to $1200 kept that drafty house very comfortable.
