Review: Avalon Arbor
Stove great; company, not so much
Although the Avalon Arbor has been discontinued, I'm submitting the review to comment on the manufacturer, which still has pellet stoves on the market. The Arbor itself is both efficient and reliable. We've owned ours for over eight years and are very happy with it. Heating with any wood source is going to create some soot issues, and the fan may be noisier that you expect (though the Arbor is much quieter than our new forced-air propane furnace). These things should be considered carefully before buying any wood stove. Despite the quality of the stove, Travis Industries, the manufacturer, has a terrible customer service model. They do not sell parts through online vendors, which wouldn't be so bad if they made it easy to order parts directly from them. Unfortunately, their website offers no such function. The About Us page says "Feel free to contact us," but then doesn't tell you how! Snail mail is the only contact info I could find on the site. So while TI makes a good stove, after market problems may make them a poor choice.
