Review: American Energy Systems Magnum Countryside
Troublesome Magnum Countryside Pellet Stove
If this stove would work continuously without repair it would be a good unit. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to keep running in a consistant basis. Be prepared to replace both auger and stirrer motors on a regular basis, stirrer bushings wear out every year, and learn to weld. This stove has broken the stirrer rod, along with the fire pot serveral times.
Slag/clinkers build up on the inside of the firepot, even with regular cleaning, and you have to remove it and use a chisel and hammer to chip this away so the stirrer will clear and not bind.
If you're able to find one setting this stove will operate at without overloading or going out, keep it set there, or this stove will be sheer aggravation.
The thermostat option is something that cant be trusted, and is not a practical thing for this stove. It plain wont keep itself from going out.
If you like constant work or major repairs, this stove will heat your house. Not for the faint of heart or non-mechanically inclined.
