Review: St. Croix Lancaster
St. Croix Lancaster
Have had it in a 100 year old drafty farmhouse in North Dakota for the past two winters. Works well. Easy to take care of. Added the hopper extension so we could go a bit longer between fills during the long, cold winter nights when temps hit 30 below and colder.
Burns clean, is easy to take care of and works well. Will have a battery backup for this coming winter so the fan and auger continue to work when the power goes out as it does from time to time.
The first winter we had it we heated the house from October til May for the cost of two months fuel oil the previous winter. That is the cost of corn, the cost of the Stove and the cost of electricity to run the fan and auger. Helps that we are in farm country and buy our corn from neighbors who deliver and auger it into our grain bin.
Will be buying another so we can heat the basement separately this coming winter.
It was worth getting and works well.
