Quadra-Fire Mt Vernon AE
The Mt. Vernon AE is engineered and designed to operate automatically, not only adjusting temperature on the fly but also different settings for user-selectable fuels. The stove will burn corn, standard wood pellets, wheat, or sunflower seeds. A 7-day programmable thermostat is available that controls room temperature, adjusts heat output, regulates the stove's autoclean cycle, and monitors built-in diagnostics. Made of cast iron throughout, the Mt. Vernon can burn at over 83% efficiency and provides five manual or automatic heat settings.

Bought my QuadraFire AE in June 2012 and it ran very well for several years. I had to replace the ignitor in 2017 and the baffle once in 2016. After 3 years the baffle is so bad and looks like it is falling apart with large scaly pieces falling off so now another $200+ to replace it again. Also had the thermocouple and fire pot replaced last fall (2019). Not so sure I'd buy another.Overall Performance:

Bought this AE in early 2017. Full use started in November, 8 months later. "Dealer" is a one-man shop; service response from him is HORRIBLE. Worse. Called Quadra Fire direct and complained about their dealer's lack of service, stove quit working completely after thermostat started giving us bad temp readings. I bought our Mt Vernon stove Feb of 2003 and have burned pellets mixed with pea coal every year in Maryland. The heat pump is the backup to the pellet stove. may I just say this stove is a VERY EXPENSIVE PIECE OF CRAP!! It is very expensive to operate, very dirty, dusty, noisy, keeps breaking down. I'm thinking, dear God what else can go wrong with this piece of crap? Try to fix it yourself? Good luck. Right now we are freezing because the afore mentioned piece of crap died again. This time it's the igniter. No human hand can retread the new wire thru ...Overall Performance:

This was the worst investment I have ever made. Had the AE for 4 yrs now and have to have service man here at least twice each season. I would not recommend this stove to anyone.Overall Performance:

We purchased our Mt. Vernon AE at the end of 2007. It was installed by some very knowledgeable and well-trained professionals. These folks trained me to properly maintain the stove, and I clean it weekly without fail. This is my sixth year with this stove, it's been a great addition to the house, before having it I had to close rooms off in the old Victorian I live in and only live in part of it during the winter, and still have sky high oil bills. I had older models that ran 15 years w/out a problem. I bought one in a rental that was bottom end -- works perfectly no issues for 5 years. 3 years ago I bought the top of the line Mt Vernon AE ... everything is great except three things: 1) I breaks all the time, constantly, several times per winter. When this this stove works it gets a 5 in the three categories. Owning this stove for 4 years now I've learned it's like owning a Ferrari. Figured I'd post this review on the Quadrafire Pelican Bay since it's the same manufacturer of both. This has been the most disappointing stove for me. I've only owned it 1.5 yrs. and have already replaced one auger drive motor. Additionally, the thing jams so frequently that I have no confidence it will heat my home all night. I use premium quality pellets as suggested by my dealer. The ...Overall Performance:

I have only had my stove for a couple of months but really like it. Had the smaller stove (Castille) but the larger Mt Vernon does a much better job of heating my home. The Mt Vernon is pricey but at this point, I like it very much.Overall Performance:

We bought our Mt Vernon Insert in 2007, to help reduce our electric heating bill. Overall, best purchase we've made for our home. Bought our stove at a local dealer. Thought it was the best to heat our home. Cannot recommend it! On cold days it cannot keep up and does not get above 67. The Thermostat keeps blinking on and of and then shuts off for no reason. We took a year reading and researching stoves before purchasing. It never cranks up on high to keep up. Will barely heat 1000 sq. feet. Our house has had an ...Overall Performance:

I purchased a mt vernon about 5 years ago, being very lazy I have done minimal maintenance and have had no problems so far. I think it could be more efficient but it pretty much burns what it says, 7 lbs per hour on high. Mine is not an ae, everything is manual but like I said I might clean the inside once a week. I like burning a 50/50 mixture corn and pellets and it works awesome. So far so ...Overall Performance:

I would never buy a Quadra-Fire product again. I hope they go out of business. I've owned the MV for a little less than two years when it started getting "check ash pan" errors. I thought well it's still under warranty I'll get it fixed. Called the dealer I bought if from and they said sure we can come out Saturday the labor will be $150 min. I said but the labor and parts are under warranty. ...Overall Performance:

Another problem is getting service from Quadrafire "authorized Dealers".It takes roughly four weeks to get a problem fixed, that means one quarter of the winter using heating oil! We have been trying to contact the manufacturer, but even the website is not the same any longer. Can anyone please provide their current website or contact? Thanks a lot!Overall Performance:

Installed in Dec. 2006.this stove is not a reliable piece of equipment at all! From burnt igniters to the cleaning cycle that gets stuck,to the control panel that gets full of static, the icon for"low fuel" that is on most of the times...this stove is a poor option considering its high price!Well, now the feeding motor is Kaput....Overall Performance:

VERY HAPPY WITH QUALITY OF THIS STOVE. PROFFESSIONALLY INSTALLED FROM REPUTABLE DEALER WHO CAME OUT AND EXPLAINED USE. DEFECTICE CIRCUIT BOARD AND BLOWER FAN RUBBED THE PLASTIC HOUSING THAT IT WAS IN. BUT THIS WAS QUICKLY SERVICED AND THERE WERE NO REACURING PROBLEMS. HIGH ASH ONLY WITH 1 BRAND OF PELLETS I USED. I FIND THIS TO BE A FLAWLESS DEPENDBLE APPLIANCE IN MY HOME. VERY QUIETOverall Performance:

The stove is great to heat my home, but not impressed with the "blowing into a bottle" noise it makes when it is really cold out or windy. Overall fairly happy with it just not impressed with the noise.Overall Performance:

I have had the MT Vernon for 3 years, I had some problems at first but I was able to fix the problems. I think the biggest problem with people who have thes stoves is thay do not clean then and do the mainance on them. This is a good stove, but if you do not know how to run the stove you are going to have problems. I have burned sun flower seeds, wood pellets, paper pellets, corn, sobeans, ...Overall Performance:

Quadra-fire should re-name this the "Mt. My Ash". I did have it installed by the dealer and spent just over $4000.00 for the unit. I've went through 2 burn seasons and have had 9 parts replaced some more than 4 times. I keep my stove in tip top shape as far as cleaning goes and totally go through it in the spring. I feel like I have had to grab my ankles on this one, thus the name "Mt. My Ash". ...Overall Performance:

Worked great for 2 months last year, was impressed. Saved on oil. This year it ran for a month, the "auto clean" cycle failed, now it can't go to the start up cycle. Called dealer All-Basics Stove shopfor warranty repair, wouldn't send a repairman in the snow, might be a week before they get there. Not the story I got when they took my $4000.00 Poor service, poor attitude. I wanted to comment ...Overall Performance:

As a former quad service tech I can tell you this is the best pellet stove on the market. The people who have given bad reviews most likely bought their stoves online and installed themselves. Lack of education on the operation and responsibilities of this pellet stove is whats to blame. This is the most advanced pellet stove built. Even people who are replacing old stoves need educated on ...Overall Performance:

Very loud blower noise with an annoying "droning" nosie at higher fan blower levels makes it near impossible to hear people talk or the TV in the same room...Burns through a bag of pellets a day.. not what the dealer had said. The other people here who rated this stove poor must have done the install themselves and did a very poor job. I had the stove installed professionally last year. With last year's oil prices, it saved me $2,000. With this year's oil prices, it will be even more. I can only imagine.... The only thing that could be improved with this stove is the pellet storage. I wish I could put 4-5 bags of ...Overall Performance:

Unbelievable, powerful, awsome, i have 1800 sf house and on the coldest days of winter this thing would probally heat my basement also, and make people shed clothes if i wanted, i used to set my thermostat @60 degrees now im very comfortable at 70-72 and the heat feels soo good. I have purchased and used several Quadra-Fire wood and pellet stoves and have recommended them to friends that have purchased them also. My older stove works great, but I just recommended Quadra-Fire to my very elderly parents and they purchased a Mt. Vernon and it is the most unimpressive and expensive pile of crap I have ever used. I'm so glad we made the investment to buy this stove. I'm still new to using a pellet stove, but this Quadrafire stove made it easy to learn. The stove saved us over 1,500 dollars this winter.
