I recently purchased my second Harmon stove after a 3 year nightmare with a Quadra fire MT Vernon that I purchased new and had professionally installed by the dealer (what a joke that was ) the Harmon is top of the line other than a loud vibration at hi fire but compared to the Quadra fire is a very dependable unit and works flawlessly .Not like the Quadra fire a over expensive piece of junk with ...Overall Performance:

Had this stove for almost 8 years. I hear my house with it in Ct all winter long. The main issue I did wrong with it originally was to turn the sensitivity all the way up. This caused the secondary fans to come on very quickly, increasing the noise and using more pellets. Once I dialed it down, the secondary fan only comes on on the coldest days. I do run this stove with the top pipe adapter. ...Overall Performance:

I have had this stove for 5 years and it's BTU output has never come close to advertised. My much cheaper Enviro rated at 35,000 btu's blows this Harman away. Very Expensive Pretty looking stove - but very inefficient (much of the heat goes out the chimney); not functional, very small ash pan which needs to be emptied often; little heat - est less than 15,000. Don't rely on this to actually heat ...Overall Performance:

Hi There, I have had this stove going on 6 years now, I live in NH and burn about 4 to 5 tons a season. I see a lot of comments on here about the squealing noise. This is how you need to fix that noise, take the 2 back covers off with the stove off and unplugged. Locate the auger and the motor on the back end of it. Loosen the 1/2" nuts on the back and pop the motor off the auger. Slide the ...Overall Performance:

Owned an XXV for over 5 years now. I must say the stove is not noisy if one considers that there are two fans moving air for combustion and heat circulation. So.. if you put the stove in your TV room, expect to turn up the TV. The fans are much the same noise as a 24 in box fan set on medium - you will notice the sound of the stove. If you can put the stove down the hall from your relaxation ...Overall Performance:

The convection fan noise from this stove is terrible, a high pitched constant whine. The fan speed can be lowered so that the noise is reduced, but not eliminated, but lowering the fan speed dramatically reduces the heat output. The other two motor noises are fine, the auger and the combustion fan, it is the distribution fan that is intolerable. You will not notice how bad the noise is on a ...Overall Performance:

I purchased the Harmen xxv and all I do is clean the glass, it gets teribly dirty in just a few hours. It is supposed to have an airwash system, but it definately is not working. I have had two other models of Harmen stoves and only had to clean the glass every 3 days, not 3 hours. The ash pan is so tiny and does not cover the bottom, so most of the ashes go outside the pan way down to the ...Overall Performance:

Bought stove three years ago. Squealed from day one on and off. Lift lid and noise goes away. Whatever the cause the Customer service wanted nothing to do with it!! Brand new and $5000 later. We have had our Harman xxv since Sept 2009. I previously had a Vermont Casting wood stove which I liked but for efficiency and safety I am pleased w/ the switch to pellets. The advantages of pellets over wood for me was cleanliness, cost (I spend less on pellets than I did buying cords of wood) and as previously mentioned safety (no creosote build up) Pellets are a convection heat as opposed to a ...Overall Performance:

We bought 2 Harman XXV stoves, and one of them has been nothing but problems from the day it was installed. The igniter has been replaced and still doesn't work properly. It sounds like an old jalopy and is so noisy it makes the entire room vibrate. The dust in the room from the pellets is horrible, and we buy the highest grade pellets available. Really looking at pellet because I am tired of stacking, drying, buying, toting wood everyday and i am nearing 60 so the thought of clearing the woods isn't that inviting either.. We have had this stove since 11/12 and have been happy so far. We have recently experienced the squealing noise and after troubleshooting with the dealer have had no success in fixing it. This is our third season with the Harman XXV. Its basically our primary heat source since we have baseboard heat and rarely use it. The Harman replaced an old woodstove that commanded the living room. We purchased the Harman xxv stove in 2008. At first we loved the stove. It worked better than expected. 1st yr., no problems, 2nd yr. we found a wear hole in the auger shaft where the pellets exit, plus igniter was dead. We had repairman come and changed both items(warranty). The repairman had never changed a auger shaft on 1 of these stoves and this was a sight to see. Complete teardown. I have had my stove for three seasons now with no problems. It burns on average a bag a day and I have yet to replace the ignitor. One thing I always do is light the stove in auto mode and once lit put in manual mode. manual mode will continue to feed the stove to keep it lit and this will prevent the stove from going out and trying re-light. I've been burning a Harman Advance for 7 years with no problems or replacement parts. Did hear loud clunking sound every once in a while coming from the feeder area and narrowed it down to the size of the pellets. Harman makes a great stove and helped reduce my oil bill to next to nothing.Overall Performance:

Igniters. Three of them so far since 2006. The new design has a coupler that is too fat to go through the hole in the back making it near impossible to install. That crunching grinding noise and a load snap and bang once in a while. Purchased this stove to replace my Vermont Castings Vigilant. It is much easier to use but REAL noisy and cost more than wood to operate. From day one there has been a rumble that shakes the floor, a crunching grinding noise and a load snap and bang once in a while. To date this stove has consumed on average about 2 bags a day. We've had our Harman XXV for around 7 years now. We had a Vermont Castings wood stove previously. The Harman stove is much easier and cleaner to use than the wood stove, but is noisier due to the fan and auger. The wood stove definitely produced more heat, but was not as controllable. I am on the 7th season (now 2011) with an XXV and absolutely love it. I had a Whitfield for 10 years prior to owning this stove. Headache-inducing scream comes from the auger. Dealer has been great (4 trips to deal with this), but the problem always returns. Auger replace in 2010. We got our Harman XXV in 2008 and have used it through 2 heating seasons. My only dissatisfaction is due to problems with the igniter.
