Harman Advance
Not only does the Harman Advance provide automatic temperature regulation, the stove will automatically adjust itself for fuel quality as well. An Exhaust-Sensing Probe is engineered into the stove that analyzes the output of the fuel being burned and adjusts the feed rate accordingly to compensate for differences in pellet fuel quality.
The Advance uses a heat exchanger in the shape of an accordion to create a large amount of surface area to be placed in a small area, greatly increasing heat transfer efficiency in small areas. The stove's hopper capacity is 60 lbs. and it will burn from 3/4 lb./hr to 6 lbs./hr at its maximum setting.

I had my Harman advance since 2000. I have put in one blower motor and one feeder motor. It runs great from October to march every year. It will burn any kind of pellet with the right adjustment. I lite it with touch fuel so it doesn't flame up . You do need to clean after every 2 tons to keep it running properly . I wouldn't buy any other pellet stove.Overall Performance:

Had this Advance for 6 years now. Burn up to 8 tons of douglas fir pellets a year heating 2900 sq ft. Don't use the igniter more than once year to check it. Waxed ceder chips start this stove great. I clean the stove after each 2 to 3 tons of pellets. Just changed out the distribution motor. Spent $170 from dealer and then did my research and found it for $69 from Electric Motor Warehouse. This is a nice stove but when it quit working I was unable to find a dealer that stocked the esp probe or the circuit board. It will take about a week to get the parts. It is going down to 8 degrees tonight. There should be a master parts dealer in a large city. Any piece of equipment is only as good as the ability to fix it in a timely manner.Overall Performance:

When we bought our home about 6 years ago, it came with a Harmon Invincible Pellet Stove. I never thought I'd ever light it and on the off chance I ever did, it would be for looks. Not the case!! I love my pellet stove!! I have it cleaned professionally every year and when the auger went our "guy" took care of us as well. Here's were I just want to see if I can do it myself. WHY CONTINUALLY BUY IGNITERS. Several people in my family have Harmon products. We learned to easily ignite the stoves or inserts without an automatic igniter. We don't use the gel that different vendors use to start them either. We soak half a glass of pellets in rubbing alcohol (90%) and dump off excess alcohol. We put them in the stove with non soaked pellets and drop a match in. It works very ...Overall Performance:

I have had mine for 8 years. I scrape the burn pot daily and empty the ash pot every 5 or 6 days. I take it apart and clean it every 2 to 3 weeks. I can now do it in under 30 minutes. At first it seemed like a big deal to clean, a lot of parts but overtime it got easier Overall I'm very satisfied. It is louder than I would care for. It is installed in the corner of the great room. I have about ...Overall Performance:

Been dealing with this piece of junk for 6 years. Seems I got the lemon of factory. Everybody raves how this heating product is the second coming of christ for heat. Yet winter after winter after winter equal problems after problems after problems. The fan went, the thermostat went, I've got the thing pulled apart and I look like a coal miner thats been trapped in a mine for a month, I've ...Overall Performance:

This is by far the finest pellet stove ever produced, and will not breaqk if properly maintained. I am going of fifteenth year of extremely happy use. heats entire home of 2700 square feet, with only a few degrees of supplimental heat needed in the far reaches of the home. LOVE this stove.Overall Performance:

you people with your complaints are NOT maintaining your stoves properly. Buy better pellets (Vermont, Okinagan, Barefoot, Somerset, NOT Green Supreme or New England Hardwood). Clean the stove regularly and completely, and you will not have any of the issues listed. The igniter inside the burn pot can not ignite if it is surrounded by ash. open the cover to it and vacuum it out.Overall Performance:

Bought this stove in Jan 2013: excellent at heating main big room( probably 1500 sq feet) need fans to move heat to other rooms (put this fan directly behind the stove and works great, (Hunter 90435 16-Inch Portable Stand Fan, Gunmetal). Dec 2013 the dreaded squeal / squeak started. tried the graphite in the pellets and it worked for about 3 hours, then it returned. searched the internet and ...Overall Performance:

Starting our 3rd winter season here in Maine using our Harman. We love this stove and are saving a load of money. We find that softwood pellets give us the best heat on stove temp/automatic. We did need to replace an igniter the first year but it was under warantee and the service tech was great. Keep your burn pot clean!Overall Performance:

Gosh I'll take a regular wood burning stove anytime over this. Yes the Harman works. Dry air at high fan speeds. A bit loud... but not a bummer. No chain or creosote issues. Bags of pellets cost plenty! No real radiant heat.Overall Performance:

This is my elventh year with my Harman Advance as my primary heat source. Still using the original igniter - home made outside air (dealer didn't even know aout it at the time- told me to open a window a bit! I told him NO WAY!) No issues to complain about. It's most dependable on Manual with the room senser because re-ignition is slow and wasteful on Auto. Just changed distribution blower for ...Overall Performance:

I sell these stoves. I cannot tell you how many times we receive calls from people saying that their stove is smokey and making creosote. When asked if they have cleaned the burn pot. Their response is ALWAYS, " of course we have"!! Sooooo, we drive to their home and 99% of the time we clean their burnpot properly for them and the problem is solved. Clean your burnpots people. We purchased our new Harman Advance in Dec 2011. It works great, heats great. My issue is the very loud auger motor, it makes an irritating grinding, low-hum noise every time it feeds pellets. It's much louder than the auger on my eight year old Quadra Fire stove! The dealer swapped out my auger motor with a brand new one - which was silent for about 4 hours, and then it started making ...Overall Performance:

I have spent over 700 dollars on igniters alone in the past 4 years. Dealer says out of warranty and thats the nature of the beast. We purchased this stove in 2005 and have had more bad than good. We have replaced the motor and chain more times than we can count. We have come to the conclusion that there is cleary a design flaw with this set up. The banging is linked to the chain hitting the bracket and it is worse when trying to burn hardwood versus softwood. So far, the dealer has only replaced parts as they break. I would ...Overall Performance:

I have a Harmond fireplace insert. If you can take the fan noise it will give you enough heat for your house. The problem is the fan is so loud you need to keep it on the lowest speed just to talk. We have had our H Advance since 2005 and have had no problems with it. Paid 1400 NEW and installed it myself, not hard to do. We burn about 3 to 4 ton/winter at about 185/ton. It's important to use 100% hardwood pellets. Clean stove every 30 days and use WD40 on the feed chain, fan motor shaft etc. which is accessed thru the right side panel. It heats our 2900 sq.ft. home very nice. Stove is ...Overall Performance:

I've had this stove for 4 years and every year another problem. Smoke in hopper which eventually gummed up the auger mechanism with creasote. Stove had to be taken out and burned with a torch to remove deposits inside it. All gears and chain replaced due to pressure from gummed up auger. Dealer installed a tube to improve airflow. Then igniter went. Then auger broke. Ive had a problem with the 5 ...Overall Performance:

I have had the Advance for 3 years and burn 4 tons per year. It runs 24/7 from October to April. Absolutely no problems, 100% reliable. Maintains constant temperature and heats my 2500 sq foot colonial in New Hampshire. I have had the Advance for 1 yr. After a couple of months, I was hearing a loud noise while the unit was running. Turns out it is the auger motor. Now I am getting the flashing light and the hopper overflows without lighting. It is frustrating to get up in the morning ...Overall Performance:

Referencing the feed motor chain. Things to consider: 1. The tension block must be adjusted so there is a SLIGHT slack in the tension, too tight and you will wear out the feed motor shaft. 2. Banging may not be "stuck pellets" but an older chain and motor. The new motor mount ($190 kit) eliminates the rubber bushings and the motor screws direct to the bracket. Make sure the sprockets are ...Overall Performance:

Lots of problems with this stove. Every year something new. Out of warranty now so all on me. Problem with chain falling off, broke the gears of feed mechanism, sensor went bad, feed motor bad, go through a lot of pellets (~2 bags per day even on warm days). Does make room warm however. I live in Queens, New York. Formally, pellet stoves are not approved for use in five borough. But being fed up with monopoly of local gas company I decided to buy a pellet stove anyway. My stove heats up my 2300 sq. ft, 2 story home easily. I have an open floor plan and the heat just travels throughout my home. I just purchased another stove for my garage and I wish I had done this alot sooner rather than pay over $4000 a year on propane heat.
