Requires excessive cleanings or it shuts down! Not basic cleanings… BUT expensive dealer cleanings of the 2 blowers. Breaks a lot and it's the simple things that break that keep you cold. Breckwell profits on shipping charges… $30 to ship a gasket. $100 to ship a motor. $400 for ON/OFF switch (Part)Overall Performance:

Bought one in 2009 and was pretty happy with it, so I bought 2 more in 2011. WHat a mistake! I cannot keep these stoves running. I have had to replace combustion motors, ash drawers, and in the 2011 model there was a safety switch that turned the stove off every time I raised the lid to add pellets! Don't waste your money. I am going to take these out and sell them for scrap this spring. For now ...Overall Performance:

I bought a Breckwell Big E in 2010 and have had no problems. I do know if you change pellet brands you sometimes have to change settings, My house is 1200 sq. ft. and on #2 kept it 75 to 80 degrees. I love it!Overall Performance:

I've had this stove since 2005. According to the claimed BTU rating it should easily heat my small home, but it doesn't. It's just an OK auxiliary for my oil furnace and when the outside temp goes below 20 degrees or so, the oil provided the bulk of my heat. It a actually puts out very little heat for its size. It not an efficient stove and will not run on the two highest settings because ...Overall Performance:

Lots of folks complaining about this stove. Folks you get what you pay for! This is not a cast iron $4000 dollar stove!! Starting my 7th year on mine. It is kind of a pain to clean and needs it at least weekly with pellets that leave a bunch of ash. I am using Golden Fire douglas fir pellets VERY LOW ash and they burn HOT. In the time I have had it I have replaced the combustion motor ...Overall Performance:

This is the first pellet stove I had ever bought. People, if you want everything for nothing, this stove isn't for you, but if you want a basic stove that puts out heat and is easy to work on for a do it yourselfer, I think this stove is a good value. Aftermarket parts are cheap, and the fan motors can be upgraded to a longer lasting and quieter model when the originals go. Thermostat function is ...Overall Performance:

I purchased my stove at Rural King, last Februry (2013). I was excited that it could heat my complete home. To date it has been down more than working. When it has worked, it produces very little heat. I am waiting for parts now, six days; tonight is will be 2 degrees below and a chill factor of -20. I am not pleased. Bought my Big-E in January 2004 from Tractor supply, this things burns 7.5 tons a year on average and NOT one single failure. bought stove in 2006. No problems. First year used oak hard wood pellets. Last 3 years have used pecan pellets. Good heat and much less ash and less cleaning than other types of pellets. House is IPS construction and usually only run stove part of the day. 0 replacement parts. Usually use 1/2 ton per year. Love the heat. Planning to install thermostat this year. We bought our big e 3 years ago and burn 4 tons a season through it without a single problem until now. The blower motor started to grind a bit so I yanked it out and stuck 2 new bearings in it. We are in Green Bay and have burned 12 tons of pellets through the stove with no problems at all. I would not buy another one. The replacement parts are excessively priced. The Big E is a good idea if it works as advertised. My stove worked fairly well for the first season and I did perform all of the required maintenance because if you do not it will not light and or work effectively or properly, I do think it is a little fussy but I do burn a lot of pellets so it may be an adjustment was needed on my part. I've had this Big E pellet eating monster in my place for two winters now. The following are some observations: 1. The stove “works”, but considering the $2,000 price, I don't think that it does a very good job at heating or is a very good product. 2. The design is very bare-bones-basic. 3.
