i have the bx26e and i had all the problems as above but used the fiberglass rope to ease into the vent crack and dont have the overheating problem , i love this stove , once you get to know how to use it , like after letting the fire go out and 8 hours later scoop the cooled ashes out and pull the hot ashes toward the front near the vent where the air coming in will automatically start a ...Overall Performance:

A great value if you're handy and willing to improve the seals in a couple of places. I used furnace cement on the top of the sliding piece below the door and under that sliding piece at the very front, high-temperature silicone in a couple of spots around the burners, and to attach a thicker fiberglass door-seal rope. Maybe a $35 investment and 2 hours of work, and it seals pretty well to damp ...Overall Performance:

This is the best stove for the money IF you know how to use it. Don't overload it because it is not airtight and you will overfire it. If it does overfire don't worry, just keep your eye on it until the stove thermometer starts going back down. (you MUST get a stove thermometer for this stove). Puts out a lot of heat but also wastes a lot of wood because of the unavoidable drafts. Again, FOR ...Overall Performance:

I've used one to heat my home for the last 6 winters. The only problem I've ever had with it was the first time we fired it. The literature said there might be a "slight off-gassing". The smoke from the oil burning off ran us out of the house the first time we fired it. If I were installing a new one I'd fire it outside the first time.Overall Performance:

I've had this stove for about two weeks. It is not even close to air tight, and as such needs to be used with caution, and under supervision. I certainly would not put this stove (at least as is out of the box) inside your home. I've had a couple of runaway fires so far (with just a couple of pieces of dry wood) that created flue exit temperatures of 900+ degs F (my thermometer was pegged). ...Overall Performance:

I have had my stove for two years to heat a cabin as the primary heat source. Coupled with the optional heat reclaimer it does a decent job. However there are a few issues. The door is only gasketed on three sides, not the bottom, this leaves a gap that makes it impossible to cut the draft off causing easy runnaway of fires. The cast pieces do not fit closely allowing the above issue. I ...Overall Performance:

This stove is a perfect example of you get what you pay for. It goes through wood fast and constantly smella like because the junk sealer used on the joints burns off. However, it does put out some good heat and works very well for my garage/shop.Overall Performance:

Great stove for the money. If you have had $1500 dollar stoves in the past then you won't like this one. However it heats up my 1200 sq ft upstairs without blinking an eye here in south, MO. I would recommend that you vent straight up through the roof and not through the wall. it makes all the difference in the world with this little guy not to have any bends in the pipe.Overall Performance:

I recently purchased the Vogelzaang model bx26e. I have to comment that having only used this stove twice I can safely safe this is the biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased. The engineer must have been thinking this was for display only and not for burning anything. Some of the upper seams leak smoke. The fire door does not sit tightly against the frame and you can see flame on the ...Overall Performance:

Outstanding stove for the price. But I'd only use for a garage. Its NOT even close to air tight. If you load it with a lot of smaller wood, you can't shut enough air off to cool it down. As long as you know that and don't overload it, its a great stove for a workspace. I wouldn't use it in my living room.
