Vermont Castings Aspen 1920
New stove had very poor draft. My chimny goes straight up with no elbows so I didn't think it was caused by chimny. Had to leave stove door open a crack otherwise fire would go out. Removed "Primary Air Plate Part number 17" and discovered excess stove cement was partially blocking air inlets. I also cut out part of part number 17. Noticed that pieces of wood burned much faster at the front and pieces of wood at back just turned black and sat there. I slid the top pieces of brick forward about 1/4 inch to allow air flow towards the back. That has made big improvement and now the stove burns just fine. Black painted finish on top started to rub off when I wiped it with a damp cloth when the stove was cold.
