We purchased one of these last year and are trying to make our way through our first winter with it...awful. This thing eats through pellets like nobody's business. We have a pellet stove downstairs that is 10 years old and is MUCH more efficient (Quadrifire). I don't understand why it never shuts down...it constantly is sucking up pellets. In the past we've used 3 tons of pellets to heat our house operating the pellet stove in our basement at 80+ degrees and have never run out. This year we have been running the Empress at 70+ upstairs in our main living area and are definitely going to run out. We haven't had the mechanical problems that other has but I just don't understand how a 10 year old stove can be more efficient than this new one. It looks great but that is the only positive I can give it. I would definitely look elsewhere if purchasing a pellet stove insert.
