Blaze King Princess Ultra PEJ1006
With white spruce and sum birch, burn times are plenty long enough to load and heat 2200 sqf in the interior of Alaska. Don't think much of that, but do the homework on our cold degree days here. My mother in law got a Vermont castings Encour. I will never question Blaze King's thought processes ever again. You can control the stove much better. It has a much broader temperature range starting very low. The VC has no comfort settings it is only capable of hot, but not as hot as the Princess I have.
The heat shielding in the Princess is much more effective than the VC. Using a lazer temp gun my walls behind the stove stay more than 100 degrees cooler than the VC my inlaws have(VC says 246 degrees is acceptable, um ever hear of pyrolisis). The air control is thermostatically controled so you don't have to get upa and readjust it like the inlaws have to. The VC doesn't hold ash at the base of the fire or small embers either. Avid burners know 2" of ash in the stove helps keep things consistent.
Plenty of room for ash in the Princess and a nice way to empty it through a pull out plug. I have to remove some ash every 6 or 7 days. No big deal. Much nicer than the ash pan that you have to carefully slide the lid on otherwise hot ash may fall all over the carpet. The princess has hinged flaps that have plenty of overlap to ensure the floor stays cool and clean. My only complaint is that I had to have the door's window repacked; too much air making its way through, even after adjusting the door catch full tight. After the fresh gasket the control of the stove was even easier. Wonderful product guys. Thank you to the BK guys. If you'd have made a version that was a little more decorative, I could have sold my mother in law on it, and she would be much happier when she comes to visit the grand kids. She wouldn't have to complain about how much easier my stove is to operate. Vermont Castings take note.
