Enviro Empress--FIRE in pellet hopper, no support!
Ethecal--same story here. Empress installed fall '08, ran great 1st year. 2009 multiple service calls for auger, lazy fire, smoke leaking into the room. 36 hours after the last service call (Jan '10) heard auger clunking, noticed smoke billowing out the side of my house. Stove did not shut down, despite FIRE in the pellet hopper. 6 inches of flames in the hopper....doused with water, called the stove shop, sent email to Enviro. Nightmare ever since. The hauled the stove back to local distributor (Angela Russo), no answer for weeks. Finally, their answer? Blaming the Cornith wood pellets. Huh? How can pellets cause pellet hopper heat sensor to malfunction? Blaming US--stating stove was dirty, although it was cleaned and *serviced* less than 36 hours prior to the fire. Run, do not walk away from the Enviro stoves--if you have problems there is NO customer service. And you may be rewarded with a fire in your home. BTW also have a Harmon Accentra--which I LOVE. 5 years, problem-free. (And not so finicky that Cornith pellets cause it to self-combust!). Anyone else out there with similar Enviro woes? Any tips on dealing with Enviro---really hate to get a lawyer involved, but on principle cannot walk away from 4k invested in a stove we only ran for 1.5 seasons! Ethecal: email me, mdprew@hotmail.com w/ your progress w/ Enviro.
