Dutchwest Cast Iron Extra Large 2462
This Stove has been excellent! We have burned more wood in this stove than you could imagine, it is our sole source of heat, and hard woods do the best in it, cottonwood burns up to quickly in this stove in my opinion, plus I'm not much for the amount of ash cottonwood creates. We have used solid round logs in it with the circumference of a dinner plate, and they burn excellent all night (with adequate coals and air of course). We live in a very windy area and the stove draws well, we virtually never have any back puffing (unless of course I accidentally leave the catalytic on when starting the stove before it's up to operating temps, oops!, otherwise we don't have to worry about that problem.) I would suggest this stove to anyone, heats our home very well, as a matter of fact, we have over heated the house occasionally, even on cold winter nights we have been able to sleep without the covers it heated the house so well, and this is without using the catalytic. The burn time for us is wonderful, it burns all night and we have a few coals left in the morning most of the time, and this is without the catalytic, with the catalytic the burn time is even better. As for cleaning the chimney, we only have to clean it every other year, and even then we have almost no creosote to speak of, and we have single wall pipe with our vaulted ceiling. Now of course as with any home that your sole source of heating is a wood stove, the outer rooms will be colder, but if you use ceiling fans or floor fans then you can help heat those rooms up better. Now we have used a fan that you place on the top of the stove that is non-electric, it uses the heat of the stove to make the fan work, and that also will help those outer rooms.
