Review: Jotul F 100 Nordic QT
Jotul F 100 Nordic QT Rescued Us from Propane
We've had our little Jotul F100 going for about 3 weeks now. We have a 2000 sq. ft. split level in S. NH. We installed the stove in the living room, (center of the open concept living room, kitchen, dinning room), and facing down the hallway to 3 bedrooms. We also simultaneously had our house fully insulated and sealed, (in our State, check out NHSaves.com. . .well worth it!). Prior to the new stove and insulation, we relied on a tankless boiler/hot water heater fueled by propane. It pushed hot water through baseboards throughout the house. Only lived here 1 year but spent $4600 on propane in that year. Now, with new Jotul installed, we keep thermostats at 63 in basement and 65 upstairs. It's getting more mild with spring but one fire in the morning keeps the upstairs at 70+ all day. If the daily high temp stays under 32, we have done a second fire at lunchtime and a third after dinner. Can't keep fire going through the night as the back bedrooms get too cold. Still, a remarkable improvement in comfort and cost, thus far. Very happy with the stove and thinking about putting an F118 Blackbear in the basement next year to go 100% wood heat.
