I don't hae much to compare too since this is the only wood burning appliance I've lived with long term. That said, it has provided excellent heat to my small drafty 100+ year old brick row house in Washington DC. it definitely works best with dense, seasoned wood like oak, cherry, etc. It has ...

This is the second winter I have used this stove. I really like the looks. However, there are several problems. Fist the cook surface is very small. Not many pans will fit. It is hard to keep it from smoking. Every time you open the door, you will get smoke. The book say that you have to let ...

The reviews on this stove baffle me because the majority of complaints seem to relate directly to poor drafting as opposed to poor stove performance. This is my 14th year with this stove and I put 3-4 cords per winter through it without a single problem. It is incredibly efficient - I start each ...

I have had this stove foe 10 years. The only problem is that the side loading door is hard to latch. I simply load it from the front. I like this stove very much. It pretty much heats my 2200 square foot home. I have seen good reviews and bad reviews but for myself it is wonderful. I grew up using ...

Blower just stopped working 3 years of light use after purchase and installation. Much less room heat. Suggestions on a good heat activated fan that is effective when placed on hearth in front of the fireplace insert will be greatly appreciated.

Replacement blower is too expensive.

Thank you

I do not write reviews normally, however I feel that there is no way all of these positive reviews are legitimate. I have used a few wood stoves for approximately 30 years and never had any problems since purchasing the Jotul F400. I sincerely wish we had kept out previous Upland stove but my wife ...

I researched the best wood stove to buy for a year. Every time I keep coming back to this stove. I am so glad I did. This stove is a work horse. I have not had any smoke or fumes in the house, I just open the vent wide open and crack the door and no problem. I put the stove in my fireplace and vent ...

We have heated with wood for 40 years, since 2010 with the Jotul f 400. We heat a well insulated 1700 square foot house. We are very happy with this stove. We love the glass to see the fire, which we didn't have with our box of a stove before. Now we are having a serious problem with the door ...

I would not recommend this stove to a seasoned pro or a novice beginner woodstove person. The stove does not draft properly due to insufficient make up air. There is no way to manage inbound air draft, hence using the door is the only option when starting a fire and bringing it to full burn. ...

This Lopi Republic 1250 stove will heat our 1150 sf house but does take a while. The fire box is small so the wood needs to be small pieces. If the fire is started properly, per instructions, we don't get smoke into the room. However, when re-loading, I have to open a window or door to increase the ...

Bought this stove in 2014. Learned how to use it, theirs a learning curve. Plus you really should have a good draw. One issue is the lever to shut it down can at times pop back, creating a dangerous over burn that causes damage to the stove, yet a fire hazard when sleeping. After only 2 winter ...

This stove is amazing! It is much easier to keep the glass clean than my Vermont Castings model which I used to love, it burns incredibly efficiently, is so controllable, and most amazing to me is that with a few hot coals it will burn one log at a time. I have about 15 feet of total pipe and it ...

Great wood stove. I've had it for over 10 years, and I heat my house with it all winter. My wife and I get home around 6 pm and I can build a fire we can start cooking dinner on in about an hour. I've used my DW for about 4 seasons, replacing an older non-air tight stove. I couldn't be more disappointed. The creosote is ridiculous. My Jotul woodstove has been a mess of toxic fumes since it was installed a couple of years ago. What a waste of money. We have burned at least 2 cords of wood so it is not a "newness" problem or any nonsense like that. We burn clean, dry maple. There is adequate draft and the pipe is ...

What I love about this stove is that it has a large capacity. You can actually have big pieces of wood into it. It can heat up the room in a matter of minutes if you assist it constantly. But if you just leave it and allow it to burn the woods on its own, it would take hours to really heat up.

Don't believe the lifetime warranty! Our stove had cracks all over inside the firebox and the overhead pipes sagged. We never let the stove get over 500 degrees. The company said we over fired the stove and wouldn't cover anything. I've heard other people had same problem. DON't buy a Quadrafire!
