manufacturer wants customer to pay for parts and labor in the event of warranty and then reimburse after they look at their defective part.... sounds illegal to me.... if this was going to be their warranty policy, it should be spelled out in the warranty policy in owner's manual.... NOBODY WILL DO THE WARRANTY REPAIR WORK FOR FREE so who will fix it???

I absolutely love this little stove. Considering it is only 35,000BTU's it works great for a small stove and is also very classy looking.

It heats our circa 1825 drafty home quite well and is used primarily for our downstairs which is around 1,000 sq. ft. If it's not too cold out (teens or below), we often open the doors to the upstairs of our home.

I would highly ...

Follow up to my review.

In all due respect to the review of bob K, I would contact my dealer. You should not have the problems you indicated.

When I very first ran my stove, I had the same problem and it was due to the burn pot not properly in place as well as the liner. Hopefully it might be something as simple as that. Good luck!

I have an empress. After 2 years, 11 repairs and toomany service calls and replacement parts, I am totally discouraged. I can't get a hold of the company, they pass me along to the same dealer, incapable of fixing the stove, and no one is there for back up if anything goes wrong. My stove runs for 20 minutes, shuts off and has to be turned on again. Everything has been replaced, 3 augers, 4 ...

Bought this stove Sept. 2009. Immediately had to replace main board- the dealer replaced it (under warranty?). Has operated flawlessly since. Does a great job of heating the downstairs of the house (~1600sqft in the midadlantic), and is an attractive pellet stove. Money well spent!

Dealer problems mainly. Motherboard never worked on one. It took 3 weeks to get a return call and 5 weeks to get the replacement installed. Fire started in pellet bin. Called dealer. He responded 5 days later after many calls to him. Fire put out with water. Auger and igniter do not work. Waiting now for resolution of why pellet bin ignited and whether auger motor and igniter ought to be ...

Hope this runs better than the Windsor. nothing but problems, and no one knows how to fix it. Too many things to replace. We bought it for $2500 thinking it would pay for itself in 3 years with savings on heat, but its nothing but headaches. Sure hope the Empress (which looks just like my Windsor) is a better performer, unfortunately I will never know as I will never buy an Enviro product ...

We purchased one of these last year and are trying to make our way through our first winter with it...awful. This thing eats through pellets like nobody's business. We have a pellet stove downstairs that is 10 years old and is MUCH more efficient (Quadrifire). I don't understand why it never shuts down...it constantly is sucking up pellets. In the past we've used 3 tons of pellets to heat our ...

My Empress has not worked from day one. Bay Stoves has been back 3 times, replacing motherboards, vacuum hoses, and looking puzzled for hours each visit. It lights up at first, then shuts down after 15 minutes. It also comes on by itself for no reason and after a power outage. Don't ever buy an enviro. Try finding a conact for the the company on the internet. If you find one have them call ...

I have owned a Windsor for 4.5 years now. Your Empress model is the redesigned version of mine. First off, let me start by saying that most people have unrealistic expectations. These stoves, like most mechanical devices take time to get used to. They are affected by the quality of pellet burned - after all this time, I only buy Lignetics despite their cost - they just work better in this stove. ...

Not a horrible stove but I wouldn't buy one again. Poorly designed controls that make it difficult to maintain the desired temperature in the house. The auger motor causes the stove to vibrate and can be quite annoying in a quiet room. Also very difficult to get any help from the manufacturer. A friend has the Enviro and his is probably in the trash if someone wants to try it out.

I have had my Empess insert for six months. I have virutally heated my house with a 35000 btu fireplace insert and supplement with a small heat lamp in the kitchen. My house is 3500 sqaure feet up and down. Much of the heat goes upstairs to the bedrooms due to my center stair situation. I have cut my propane use from 300 a month down to 300 every 3 months. I purchased an Empress insert Nov '08 and had researched pellet

We bought the empress in 2006 for supplemental heat, and like others paid a good $2500 since we liked its form and fit and. It puts out great heat, so we use if for about 60-70% heating needs. The first season it worked fine, and we got used to things.
Shortly thereafter, the convection fan went bad- this is a classic squirrel cage design that should last 10 years! $365 including labor to ...
